Holy moly, thanks to everyone for your nice words regarding the Andy Kaufman Award. I am still overwhelmed and honored. I owe some people big “thank yous”: my comedy partner Darren Mabee who turned the set from a bad dream into a very real night terror, Alec Lambert for being a cybergoth laserdemon and genuinely scaring the audience, Colin Burgess & Lorelei Ramirez for being druids when they really should be nominees, Jo Firestone for wearing a gimp mask and Ana Fabrega for being a committed actress in the face of Darren’s torture and m'rock.  I was just honored to be in the running with Ana, Jo & Julio Torres, who are legit comedy geniuses and some of the best people in and out of comedy. Plus, Nathan Barnatt, Alison Rich, Ben Kronberg & Jim Hickox all blew me away with their performances. Special thanks to Michael Kaufman and the whole team behind the show, the judges, Pat, Shannon & the UCB East team for putting up with my anarcho-comedy (sorry again) and the legendary Elayne Boosler who let me riff with her about the dark arts and Kohls. Also, meta-thanks to Andy Kaufman for his surprise appearance backstage after the show and for being my comedic hero forever. RIP. Here’s a cool rundown of the show from The Comic’s Comic. Everyone could have and would have deserved to win.
